being an american right now in 2025 fucking sucks. The class divide is rifting violently upwards. Owners/management don’t understand why employees need such drastic wage increases while all their other costs are skyrocketing. But what they don’t see is things like cost of healthcare going up 500% for people like myself. From $60/month to over $350 at the change of the new year.
I dropped it.
I dropped my insurance entirely and demanded a refund for everything I had paid for the year. (the american way)
Naturally, I was told to “talk to the marketplace” (read: “fuck off”).
So call the marketplace I must.
I will get my money back. I’m not doubtful that I can. But I take greater grievance every day with the amount of hoops we’re forced to jump through. Have you ever tried to cancel an Amazon account? They obfuscate the process as much as possible in order to wear you down to the point where you don’t even want to by the time you’ve found the correct form.
Companies have all needed to take as much advantage of their customers as possible in order to stay competitive in their industries. It’s just the way business works. It’s the way capitalism works. Everyone won’t just agree to collectively make less money just to be nice. Prices go up; they don’t come down. And here’s where Reagan comes in. Economic ideas trickle down.
The people who made the most stable money during the gold rush were the ones selling the shovels. Today it’s the crypto markets, the ecommerce platforms, social media, MLMs, and they’re all made to sell people ways to own their own opportunities. Their own businesses where they can take advantage of others and make themselves whole from what’s been taken.
It’s a vicious cycle that human civilization seems to be founded on. Generational hazing is all but impossible to avoid. It can be seen in every single creature in nature as well. Starting with the first eukaryotic cell that gobbled up a mitochondria, everyone that feels fucked over is gonna fuck over someone else.
unless a conscious effort to stop is made.
but that’s the problem.
conscious.
Those of us who come to these conscious conclusions sometimes try to insert them permanently into the zeitgeist and common subconscious through culture. Written word such as this exact text. These things would commonly get passed down. Books. Scripture. Legends. Myths. Warnings. Rules. They get passed down from generation to generation until strong neural receptors for such beliefs and morals are born into individuals and need only be activated through societal coaching. It’s not nature or nurture. It’s both, but not acting hand in hand, but more like a seed and a watering can.
